Fifteen years - that's how long Oh Dae-su (great: Choi Min-sik), a completely average businessman and family man, is locked up in a cell without windows by strangers. He spends these fifteen years without any human contact and in complete uncertainty as to why and for how long he is being held. From the TV news, he learns of the murder of his wife, which the perpetrators blame on him. When he is suddenly released one day, he has only one goal: revenge! But when he is contacted by his kidnapper and asked to find out the reason for his imprisonment, Oh Dae-su realizes that the torture is not over yet.
