Like many teenagers, Donnie is plagued by world-weariness and a vivid imagination. His best "friend" is Frank, a giant rabbit he invented. When the mostly mute rabbit tells him at night that the end of the world is approaching, it also conjures up events that cause quite a stir in Donnie's rural hometown. But does Frank really exist or is the mysterious long-eared animal just the product of the introverted teenager's imagination?

When it was released in 2001, DONNIE DARKO flopped at the box office. But the film soon became a cult film for an entire generation. Reason enough for us to give the melancholic sci-fi coming-of-age comedy a place on our open-air screen.
