Bia Ferreira is a fantastic musician - and not only that. She writes: for the radio, for magazines or other print materials. She is almost certainly one of those artists for whom the message is the origin of all music. It's about representation, about politics, about queer identity. She describes her booking agency as "problem-solving oriented".
"MMP - Música de Mulher Preta", music for black women, is how Bia Ferreira defines her music. And it works: the comment columns on her YouTube videos read like a big celebration: "I've just found my new favorite artist" or "I feel so represented!".
A nice little play on words from the lyrics for English or Portuguese-speaking lyric fans should also be mentioned here:
"minha banda da igreja LESBITERIANA" - "my band from the LESBIterian church".
