THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES shows the epic finale of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the dwarves. When the companions reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug, they unwittingly unleash his destructive power: the angry Smaug spits his fiery wrath on the defenseless men, women and children of Lake-town.
Thorin is obsessed with his need to protect the recaptured treasure - he even risks friendship and honor for it, while Bilbo desperately tries to make him see reason. The hobbit soon has to make a very explosive decision. But even greater dangers lie imminent for the companions. Only the wizard Gandalf realizes that the mighty enemy Sauron has set his orc legions in motion to make a surprise attack on the Lonely Mountain.
As the conflict escalates and darkness falls, the peoples of the dwarves, elves and men are faced with a choice: either fight together or perish. In the epic Battle of the Five Armies, Bilbo risks his life for that of his friends: the future of Middle Earth is at stake.
