Oliver (Tom Schilling) works hard for his success as a portfolio manager. But when he takes the free lane opposite the private fast lane on the way to an appointment, he crashes into a devastating crash. Diagnosis: paraplegia.
Three months of rehab are supposed to prepare him for life in a wheelchair. But Oliver wants to get out of this "disabled prison" with bad internet as quickly as possible. In search of the strongest WiFi signal, he meets a strange disabled shared flat, the "Goldfish Group": Magda (Birgit Minichmayr), a blind cynic with a crude sense of humor, two autistic people, the 80s pop fan Rainman (Axel Stein), the mute Michi (Jan Henrik Stahlberg) with a protective helmet and Franzi (Luisa Wöllisch), a confident girl with Down syndrome. The group also includes the two carers Laura (Jella Haase), who wants to do her dream job in practice really well after studying special education, and Eddy (Kida Khodr Ramadan), who is the exact opposite: a special needs teacher who hates his job with all his heart.
Oliver, who in addition to his disability is now also struggling with the fact that his Swiss safe deposit box with tax-free assets is at risk of being discovered, recognizes the advantages of positive discrimination: a trip on a disabled bus as the perfect cover for his smuggling of black money across the German-Swiss border...
