Dora Diamant and Franz Kafka met by chance on the Baltic Sea beach in 1923. He, a man of the world, she from the deep East, he can write, she can dance. She has both feet firmly on the ground, he always floats a little above it. When the two get to know each other, all differences become irrelevant. They are granted a single year until Franz Kafka dies far too early. Even though Kafka's health deteriorates more and more, the year they spend together lets them both feel the glory of life.
Based on the 2011 novel of the same name by Michael Kumpfmüller, the film tells of the late love between Franz Kafka and Dora Diamant.
