In 1984, CJ was personally invited to Elton John's shows at the Tenda-Palatrussardi theater in Milan. While Elton and his band waited for the limousines in the hotel lobby, CJ sat down at the piano and began playing Elton John tunes. After Elton listened to C.J.'s impromptu performance. After hearing Marvin, he said, “You’re the best interpreter of myself I’ve ever heard!”
