SRF two: The smi­le of the stars

When Adrienne (Diane Lane) finds out that her husband is cheating on her, the mother of two teenagers' world falls apart. Even after her husband apologizes to her and wants to move back into their house, Adrienne doesn't know how her life will go on. Her friend Jean's (Viola Davis) offer to look after her guest house comes at just the right time. Jean's beautiful house is on Rodanthe, an island off the coast of North Carolina.

Although it is hurricane season, a guest has announced his arrival: the doctor Paul (Richard Gere), who has a difficult task ahead of him. He is trying to talk to the family of a patient who unexpectedly died in his hands. At first Adrienne and Paul are strangers to each other, but over the days they grow closer. When a hurricane approaches, a stormy passion flares up between the two that will change their lives forever.

The American director George C. Wolfe, a renowned theater director, has adapted Nicholas Sparks' love story of the same name for his feature film debut "Nights in Rodanthe". In "Nights in Rodanthe", Sparks celebrates love in the second half of life. Richard Gere and Diane Lane are in the lead roles.

In addition to the attractive actors, the old house and nature also contribute to the visual appeal of "Nights in Rodanthe". Behind this are the production designer Patrizia von Brandenstein ("Amadeus") and the cameraman Affonso Beato, who captures the breathtaking coast of North Carolina in beautiful images.
