Etienne is twenty years old when he meets Valérie. It is love at first sight; the birth of Rosa follows. When Valérie leaves her, Etienne decides not to make a big deal out of it. Etienne, who makes his living as an amateur football coach, raises his daughter alone. It is unusual how they meet on equal terms and can talk about all topics without taboos. They are happy until 17-year-old Rosa is admitted to the art school in Metz and has to leave the nest. A difficult separation that brings the past back to life.
