Neben Dian Fossey ist die Britin Jane Goodall die berühmteste Primatenforscherin. Anfang der 1960er-Jahre begann sie auf Anregung des Paläontologen Louis Leakey, ihre Langzeitstudien mit Schimpansen in Tansania. Dieser Film erzählt, wie sie 1999 dazu motiviert wurde, in der Republik Kongo ein Heim für verwaiste Schimpansen zu leiten, das Tchimpounga Chimpanzee Rehabilitation Center.
