The name of ‘techno’ comes from the futuristic hopes placed by its pioneers in the proper use of technology.
The name of ‘techno’ comes from the futuristic hopes placed by its pioneers in the proper use of technology. The first ‘sound of techno’, for its part, emanates from the use of the latest available and accessible musical technologies. On this tour, we'll focus on this aspect of the exhibition to understand how synthesizers, sequencers and drum machines were combined to give life to the works that first defined the genre. We will discover that several socio-economic and organological specificities relating to this category of instruments have contributed to certain predominant aesthetic features of the genre, as well as to its rapid popularity throughout the world.
The tour will be given in English, but questions are welcome in French, English or German.
